February 26–March 7, 2009This book documents my trip to Italy in the spring of 2009. The flagbook structure conveys the overwhelming sensation I experience whenever I look back on my time there. The text and drawings were scanned from the sketchbook I filled during the trip. The book can be viewed chronologically, or the viewer may flip through the pages randomly, further experiencing the memories as I remember them. This piece was one of the 4th place winners in the 2010 Artbound Competition, making it a part of the permanent collection at the University of Florida. -

Watching the Pot BoilThis is a poster for a fictional lecture by author and blogger Cathy Erway. She writes about all kinds of wonderful, tasty things. Anyone who enjoys food blogs should check hers out, titled Not Eating Out in NY. I was lucky enough to stumble upon her book, The Art of Eating In, during my internship at Penguin Books. The entire image was created in Adobe Illustrator. Below you can see the detail in the piece:

California PostcardsThis is part of a series of postcards I did for my Type II class. We each had to create a logo for one of the fifty states (I had California), and then make a series of postcards for the state. Each postcard includes a fact about our state and illustrates that fact in some way by using the logo. -
